Day 1
Arrive Livingstone, Zambia Upon arrival in Livingstone, you are met and accompanied to your home for the first two nights. Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is built on a dramatic bend of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls. The lodge is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Zambezi amidst Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, providing unrivalled views and exclusivity. Day 2
Livingstone Enjoy a variety of activities today from your lodge. Experience a walking tour of The Falls. First described to Europe by explorer David Livingstone and known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "the Smoke that Thunders", the falls make a constant roar and are accompanied by a cloud of brilliant spray. Within the park, you may pursue elephant, impala, giraffe, buffalo, hippo and more on a game drive. Other activities include canoeing or fishing. During your stay, consider an authentic visit to Nakatindi village, near Sanctuary Susi & Chuma, where you have the chance to explore and support the community by locally hired bicycle and visit the projects supported by lodge guests such as the Community School. Day 3
To Kafue National Park This morning fly by light aircraft to Kafue National Park. On arrival, you are accompanied to your camp in time for lunch and an afternoon activity. Busanga Bush Camp lies in the heart of the Busanga Plains, a vast mosaic of expansive, grassy seasonal floodplains that extends to the horizon. The camp, nestled in a vegetated island of fig trees, accommodates guests in well-appointed tents. The lounge area is under canvas looking out over the floodplain and herds of lechwe and puku. Day 4 & 5
Kafue National Park Spend these days on game drives, walking safaris and night drives, led by qualified guides. Thanks to the rising mist off the floodplains as they dry up in winter, guests can experience incredible sunrises and sunsets, with the sun a spectacular pink color, while the floodplains teem with wildlife and birds. Game drives in open vehicles allow guests to view large numbers of plains game such as puku, red lechwe, buffalo and wildebeest and even the rare roan antelope. The famous lions of Kafue, cheetah and wild dog are also to be seen. If traveling in August-October, experience a complimentary hot air balloon ride with a champagne breakfast. Day 6
To South Luangwa National Park Depart this morning for Lusaka by light air where you connect to Mfuwe. Upon arrival, you are met and escorted to your camp in the South Luangwa. Perched on an escarpment overlooking a floodplain, Sanctuary Puku Ridge Camp offers stunning vistas with perfect game sighting opportunities. Lying nestled in a remote game-rich area of the park, lion, leopard, elephant and zebra can frequently be seen. Day 7 & 8
South Luangwa National Park Explore the park on game drives (day and night) and walking safaris, for which the South Luangwa is famous. Lions and leopards are often seen in the area around the camp, as are buffalo and elephant. On the open plains below the camp there are always grazing herds of antelope and of course they attract the predators that every guest wants to see. Go down to the river for sundowner cocktails before leisurely driving back to camp seeing the nocturnal wildlife. Guests often see hyena and leopard in the early evenings. Perhaps pay a visit to the Uyoba Community School outside the South Luangwa, where Sanctuary Puku Ridge helped build new classrooms and provide additional support to improve the education of 650 students. Day 9
Depart Lusaka Your journey ends today as you return to Mfuwe for your flight to Lusaka, where you connect to your onward flight. (B)
